Learn at Liberty

Oh my gourd, October Looks boolightful for learning!

Here are a few of the classes we are highlighting this month…

Glass Notes…

 Glow in the Dark Ghosts

Yes, these glass ghosts actually glow in the dark. They are made with ingredients that gives the glass that property.

Glass Pumpkins

Students will learn "hands-on" how to apply different colors to molten glass, how to shape the semi-molten form and finally to inflate the glass into a pumpkin shape.

Little Treasures Glass Dish

Discover the magic of glass fusing in this beginner-friendly class! You’ll design and assemble your own one-of-a-kind 4”x 5” glass trinket dish using colorful sheet glass, frit, and stringers. No experience is needed — you will be guided through the basics of glass cutting, design tips, and how glass transforms in the kiln.

Warm and Cozy…

Wood Burning Coasters

In this class, students will make their own fall-themed coaster by using basic woodburning techniques. Students can use woodburning to create a sugar skull, pumpkin, or jack-o-lantern design on their very own coaster.

All tools and materials provided. This class does not require any prior experience with wood burning and does require the ability to work around with small power tools. Safety equipment will be provided. Closed toe shoes are required

ART APPRECIATION

Thank you, Delores, for making it magical!

Liberty Arts is honored to have been part of Delores' journey.

Her presence and instruction have brought a vibrant community of ceramic artists to our Pearl Street Studios, which contributed to our thriving environment where artists of many mediums connect and grow.

Now, after nearly a decade of collaboration and community, Delores' Pottery Studio is relocating to 1010 West Main Street in Durham.

We are very excited to recognize Delores’s new chapter and look forward to continued collaborations with her in the future.

On behalf of everyone at Liberty Arts, we appreciate Delores and wish her all the best!

THANK YOU!

I am so grateful to the organization, my fellow artists, and the board for the door opened into learning new techniques, incubating my own creative ideas, and entering the Arts in Durham.
— Jim

Everyone at Liberty Arts also extends a thoughtful thank you to Jim Jenson (our outgoing president) for the many years of commitment and dedication as a board member.  We all wish you the very best with your next chapter!

Why Jim Loves Liberty…

Liberty Arts has been for me a wonderful community where artists can support each other, collaborate, and contribute to the thriving arts community in Durham. The affordable rent, a hard-working volunteer board, and spaces - the studios and the foundry - where one can make a mess (and clean it up) in the service of bringing creative ideas to life is fabulous. The annual Liberty Arts and Durham Central Park Iron Pour, coming up Saturday, November 15th, is a cultural institution at this point, a festival of art, fire, food, fun, and community.

Help Liberty Arts NC continue to inspire, educate, and empower our community through the arts.

Are you (or someone you might now) looking for a new and exciting leadership opportunity in the arts?  Liberty Arts is currently seeking mission driven, career minded individuals who are willing to roll up their sleeves and utilize their networks and/or skillset to join our Board of Directors.

If you believe the arts are vital and you want to make a positive impact on Durham’s arts and culture community, please send an introduction letter and resume to boardmbr@libertyartsnc.org and you can learn more about the board with the button below.

Liberty Arts artists, board members and employees, thank our community for choosing Liberty Arts as their place for connecting, learning, and having fun!
