Want to TEACH IN OUR STUDIO?

Dedicated to supporting visual artists and Durham’s creative community, Liberty’s Studio program is a cohort of 10-15 practicing artists who rent individual studio spaces in a warehouse setting.

Liberty Arts is actively looking to collaborate with local, skilled, active artists to become guest teachers with project-focused, well-defined class proposals in:

  • Glassblowing techniques for students of all experience levels

  • Welding (six MIG stations available), grinding, and plasma cutting

  • Casting in the foundry (aluminum, bronze) and regional iron pouring

  • Pottery and wheelthrowing, glazing, related techniques

If you are looking for an inspiring place to create and share ideas you've come to the right place! Our studio aims to provide a team-oriented environment for artists to flourish, collaborate, and grow while supporting Liberty’s mission; “To create experiences that enhance artistic growth and community building through creative practice and collaboration.”

To get to know each other better, our plan is for first-time guest instructors to conduct a “project-based”(eg a garden bench, a holiday decoration, etc) class where students learn the basic craft skills and finish the class with a defined object. From there, the instructor may wish to teach more intensive, skill-building classes.
