Recovery After Tropical Storm Chantal

“You will always find people who are helping.”

Call To Action

This month we are reaching out to our treasured community for support in a major way.   We need volunteers to assist in our clean-up’s efforts, remember this type of support is a great way to connect with community!  And donations in any size will make a meaningful difference as we work to recover and continue our mission.

On July 9th, Tropical Storm Chantal brought severe flooding to the Durham Central Park area, damaging several local businesses and organizations, including Liberty Arts’ Foundry. Our team has spent the past week assessing the impact on our furnaces, kiln, and other essential metalworking equipment. The damage is significant, and we've set a fundraising goal of $25,000 to help us recover.

Your support will allow us to replace and repair critical equipment and invest in preventative measures to protect the Foundry against future flooding.

Since 2003, the Liberty Arts Foundry has been a place for education, collaboration, and community. It's where Major the Bull, Durham’s iconic sculpture, was created 21 years ago and where our organization first took root.  It is the site of monthly community events, and it is central to the success of our annual Iron Pour. Today, as the only non-profit metalcasting facility on the East Coast, we remain committed to providing an inclusive space for artists and the community to come together and create.

Help us keep that mission alive. Every donation brings us closer to restoring this vital creative hub.
