10th Anniversary tile show

Join Liberty Arts at our studio (918 Pearl Street) on October 16th from 6 to 9 PM for an exhibition of 10 years of tiles! This November, Liberty Arts celebrates the 10th Anniversary of the Annual Iron Pour. We’ve hosted over a decade of scratch block workshops here in Durham, and we’re incredibly proud of the Bull City’s endless creativity. This exhibition features iron, aluminum, and bronze tiles from 10 years of programming at Liberty Arts. Each tile has been created and submitted by a member of the community who has participated in a Liberty Arts scratch block workshop. Come out to celebrate this milestone, admire the work, and share memories with your most creative neighbors!

October Classes to take with your boo
Glass Ghost and Wooden Coffin Workshop with Liberty Arts and the Bull City Workshop
Liberty Arts and the Bull City Woodshop return with our spookiest collaboration yet! Visit both non profit organizations for a two part workshop in which students will make a glass ghost and wooden coffin (which doubles as a catch-all tray)! Choose between 2 workshop sessions!

DATES ADDED for Iron Pour Scratch Block Workshops
Everyone wants in on the Iron Pour! TWO more dates have been added for Scratch Block workshops. Register for October 30th or November 6th and design your modern heirloom!
Welding 102
Welding 102 builds on the skills introduced in Welding 101 and focuses on developing the confidence and competency needed to work more independently in the welding studio.
Intro to Jewelry Making, Class 2
In this second segment of Intro to Jewelry, students will learn how to make a bezel-set ring from start to finish.
Small Metals Sandcasting
This class will focus on sand casting small objects using Delft Clay and pewter. The class will discuss the design constraints for the cast object, the creation of the mold, the pouring metal, and the finishing of the completed piece.
Flameworking: MYO Mini Glass Pumpkins
Come learn to make your own mini glass pumpkin out of molten glass using a bench-top torch in this intro to Flameworking class.
This class is perfect for beginners or anyone who has ever wanted to dip their toes into the world of hot glass.
ALL HALLOW'S SMASH:
AN IRON POUR AND SMASHFEST PRE-PARTY
Spooky season is right around the corner, and what better way to celebrate than a DUAL LIBERTY ARTS AND SCRAP EXCHANGE PRE-GAME PARTY?!
Before hitting the streets for trick or treating, come hang out in the Scrap sideyard for an afternoon of coke sand smashing (wear something you can dirty in!), testing out some smash contraptions ahead of the big day, bubble wrap stomping for the littles, a Make N' Break crafting station, and more from 12-3pm on Halloween.
Join Liberty Arts’ Iron Breaking Captains to smash reclaimed scrap iron! Everything you destroy will become art during the Annual Iron Pour! Use sledgehammers to break down bathtubs and more. Get a great workout, release your rage, and support reuse art making. Additional PPE will be provided, but iron breakers must wear long pants and closed toe shoes to participate! Volunteers ages 15 and up are welcome. Use the link below to sign the participation waiver ahead of time.
The Glass Jug will be on site selling beer and our pals Durham Congee Corner will be serving up some snacks. Don't miss this party!

In celebration of the 10th Annual Liberty Arts Iron Pour, Liberty Arts is hosting an exhibition showcasing 10 years of tiles! If you have carved a scratch block with us as part of an Iron Pour or Aluminum Pour, you can use the form below to submit your piece to be a part of this monumental exhibition. This is not a juried exhibition, so all work will be accepted until we reach maximum capacity. Work will be exhibited at Liberty Arts Studios during October Third Friday. We invite you to attend the opening reception!
