Third Friday Aluminum Pour

The weather is warm and the furnace is HOT! We're back with our next Aluminum Pour in the Foundry in Durham Central Park for April Third Friday. For the first time, you can sign up to carve a block OR a bowl, both of which will be poured in aluminum that night! Plus, join us for other free and low cost activities from 6 to 9 PM.
Third Friday is FREE and open to the public.

Scratch Bowl Workshop for April Third Friday
Carve your own bowl mold (scratch bowl) to be cast in aluminum during April's Third Friday at the Liberty Arts Foundry! Sign up now through April 6th to take advantage of Early Bird Pricing!
Flameworking: Make Your Own Mini Glass Dinosaurs
In this intro class, students will dive into the wonders of Flameworking and learn to melt glass with a bench-top torch. Beginners will learn the fundamentals of lampworking and make their own glass creations to take home.
Make Your Own Glass Flower and Wooden Vase
It's your last chance to sign up for this collaborative class offered by Liberty Arts and Bull City Woodshop! This two part workshop that takes place at both organization locations. Get a taste of Glass Blowing and a hands-on woodworking experience!
NCCU Students take on sculptural welding
Students from North Carolina Central University's Sculpture 2 course joined Metals Instructor Kendra Plumley for a multi-week sculptural welding workshop. Students gained experience using the MIG welders, plasma cutters, and angle grinders to create sculptural pieces of their own designs out of steel.

ARtist Appreciation
Jim Cohen | Metalsmith
Jim Cohen is an academically trained metalsmith with an MFA from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. His work at Liberty Arts represents the next step of a journey which began in the early 1990's at another public art center, the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA.
This April, Jim will be a part of the 2026 Smithsonian Craft Show! Check out his work and support if you can!
