The Aluminum Pour returns to the Liberty Arts Foundry as we welcome the first day of Spring! Join us this month for our upcoming events, programming, and classes.


Third Friday Aluminum Pour

March 20 | 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Liberty Arts will host its first Aluminum Pour of the year in the Foundry in Durham Central Park for March's Third Friday! Sign up to carve a scratch block which will be poured in aluminum that very night! Plus, join us for other free and low cost activities from 6 to 9 PM!
 
Third Friday is FREE and open to the public.

Scratch Tile Workshop for March Third Friday

Carve your own tile mold (scratch block) to be cast in aluminum during March Third Friday at the Liberty Arts Foundry! Sign up now through March 10th to take advantage of Early Bird Pricing!

Plasma Pop: Cartoon Characters in Metal

In this class, students will be able to pick a simple, well-known character from fiction and create a 2D layered metal representation of them. Students will plasma cut steel and use GMAW (MIG) welding to build up their design.

Intro to Jewelry Making: Stacking Rings

In this segment of Intro to Jewelry, students will learn how to make stacker rings from start to finish. 

Make Your Own Glass Flower and Wooden Vase

Liberty Arts and Bull City Woodshop are collaborating to offer this two part workshop that takes place at both organization locations. Get a taste of Glass Blowing and a hands-on woodworking experience!


Iron Heroes Spring Cohort Begins

The Spring Iron Heroes Cohort begins this month! 8 students will join instructor and program creator Tripp Jarvis to design, sculpt and cast an aluminum mask representative of their personal Hero’s Journey. These students will return again the fall to participate in the 10th Annual Liberty Arts Iron Pour.

ARtist Appreciation

Jon Richey | Flameworking Artist

Jon Richey began his flameworking journey in 2000 during an apprenticeship with a local glass artist in Charleston, SC. Jon has continued to work as flameworker during his travels to Vancouver (BC), Colorado, Georgia, and most recently Raleigh, NC. Jon currently works on personal craft projects for gallery clients and enjoys opportunities to share his technical experience with fellow glass lovers.
