Carl Billingsley: Exhibiting Artist

All creative activities (Especially Iron Pours) celebrate FREEDOM and terrify fascists!

“Iron Casting is the preeminent example of sculptors working together to create their own work as well as to help others do the same. We work as a team, sharing the hard labor, the excitement and the danger. We watch each other’s back (safety), solve problems in real time and celebrate each other’s success. I think that is why the public enjoys watching our Iron Pours, they can experience the pride, satisfaction and joy that comes from working towards a common goal and sharing the creative process with the community.”

Thea NettletoN: Exhibiting Artist

It is a fantastic opportunity as an artist and student to get involved in making communities and explore a medium that is unusual and has so much potential for creation. Access to casting materials is so hard to come by when you are not a student and as someone who is about to graduate, knowing there are opportunities like this and spaces where metal makers can find support and access to tools and materials is really important.

Thea is a metal sculpture artist as well as a muralist who is open for commission. They also dabble in watercolor and charcoal artworks. Their work often focuses on themes of sea life or surrealism verging on horror. Thea often enjoys experimenting with lighting because most of their work is 3D and relies on light to be perceived. Playing with lighting presentation like using glow in the dark or black light activated paint are ways that they often explore this theme.

Jonathan ReeD: Exhibiting Artist

Liberty Arts Iron Pour gives artists a chance to work together as one inside of the casting community. It allows for relationships to grow with fellow artists and strengthens the bond of the community. This helps make the community an inclusive home for artists which can inspire growth and build friendships. These events are also important for gaining invaluable experience in casting or showcasing work furthering that growth as an artist.

Hi! I’m Jonathan Reed, a sculpture student at UNCG who focuses on metal arts. I was born and raised in NC and showcase work around Greensboro. I currently have work installed at the Sculpture Trails Outdoor Museum and am working to have more pieces installed locally and nationally soon.

Maria RobinsoN: Exhibiting Artist

Events like the Liberty Arts Iron Pour are powerful reminders of how art can expand what’s possible—especially for women. As an artist and educator, I’m drawn to experiences that break traditional boundaries of material and method. Watching women handle molten iron or engage in physically demanding, collaborative processes challenges long-held notions of who belongs in these spaces. For me, events like this create opportunities for women to step into strength, take creative risks, and see themselves reflected in acts of transformation. They are moments of reclamation—where material, body, and voice converge in shared creative power.

Maria Knuckley Robinson is a multidisciplinary artist whose work explores memory, materiality, and the resilience of women. Through painting, installation, and mixed media, she examines the intersections of personal narrative, feminist theory, and the traces of domestic labor. Robinson’s practice reflects on how stories are preserved, silenced, and reimagined through material gesture and form.

Liberty Arts Annual Iron Pour is my favorite of the many I’ve been a part of in the past decade. I love the energy of the event and getting to learn from so many super-talented artists. Liberty Arts Iron Pour is the must-attend event of my year!

I love the intricacies of the processes that artists use in their work, and much of the art I've created has been focused on the process rather than message or meaning. I use these experiences to help other artists develop new processes in creating their work. This led me to lead the creation of Mixxer Community Makerspace in Winston-Salem, NC.

Jacqlyn Phillips

It’s pretty darn cool to be on an art-making team. It’s not something you encounter in all mediums. Iron pours are the perfect opportunity for a beginner like myself to learn, meet other artists, and have fun.

Jacqlyn is a writer diving headfirst into the world of metalworking! She got her start at Mixxer MakerSpace in Winston-Salem. This will be her second time on an iron pour team and she's very excited. SMILE

Alex Stone: Exhibiting Artist

Liberty Arts Iron Pour has pulled me into an exciting and diverse network of creative metal workers. The insight and experience that I gain from casting iron creations alongside these artists has shaped my own intentions with this medium as a form of self-expression.
